3. Purpose and legal basis of the processing
By registering with this platform and entering your application, you agree that the personal data* you enter or provide to us in any other way may be stored by the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy at the University of Erfurt for the purposes of the application process for the Master of Public Policy program, and, if admitted, for your student and degree administration.
This data includes: name, earlier names, gender, date of birth, citizenship, home address, chosen program, specializations, high school education with final grade, place and date, proof of work experience, internships and vocational trainings, other university degrees, previously attended universities, interships, CV, letter of motivation, letters of reference, language expertise, e-mail-address, telephone number, corresponding documents giving evidence of the typed in data and a copy of personal identification document.
We store and process your data based on the GDPR (§ 6, Abs. 1, UA 1 lit. b and lit. a in combination with §7), the German Federal Law on Data Privacy (BDSG, § 3) the Act on Higher Education of the Land of Thuringia (ThürHG, §§5, 11, 67), the Thuringian Regulations on Data Privacy in Higher Education (ThürHDatVO, §§ 2-5, 7 and 9), the University of Erfurt’s Framework Regulations for Master Studies (M-RPO), the specific Rules and Regulations of the Master of Public Policy (M-PO-Pub) and the statutes of the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy at the University of Erfurt.
4. Recipients of personal data
You furthermore agree that the personal data entered in this form may be forwarded to and stored by the respective departments at the University of Erfurt (and, if you are applying for the HSP program, the German Academic Exchange Service – DAAD, or the Haniel Foundation for Haniel Stipends, respectively) for the above named purposes.
Your data will not be transferred to third-parties
other than the named ones and will not be used for commercial purposes.
5. Storage period
Should your application not be successful, incomplete or should you be admitted and decide not to enroll in the program after all, your data will be deleted at the end of the Winter semester you applied for according to §6 ThürDatVO (April 12, 2012) and §35 ThürDSG (June 6, 2018).
If you get admitted into the program an enroll yourself into our Master of Public Policy program, your application data will become part of your student file. This data and documents will be stored for five more years after your de-registration (M-RPO 2019, §§ 12, 25, ThürDSG 2018 § 35(3). Core data (name, gender, date of birth, matriculation number, date of enrollment, date and reason of disenrollment, study program and specialization) will be stored for 40 years after your first enrollment in accordance with §3 ImmaO of the University of Erfurt in combination with §10 ThürHG and §6 ThürDatVO .
6. Rights of the data subject
You have the right of access (article 15 GDPR), the right to rectification (article 16 GDPR), to erasure (article 17 GDPR), to restriction of processing (article 18 GDPR), to object (article 21 GDPR) as well as the right to data portability (article 20 GDPR).
Furthermore, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority according to article 51 GDPR. In the Land of Thuringia, this is the commissioner for data protection and freedom of information of Thuringia.
7. Obligation to provide personal data
In order for the application process to be carried out as required by law, applicants are required to provide the relevant personal data. Applicants who fail to provide the relevant personal data might not be considered by the admissions committee. Selection processes at the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy at the University of Erfurt are carried out according to the requirements determined in section 33 subsection 2 of the German Basic Law (GG), the General Act on Equal Treatment (AGG), the Act on Higher Education of the Land of Thuringia (ThürHG), the University of Erfurt’s Framework Regulations for Master Studies (M-RPO) and the specific Rules and Regulations of the Master of Public Policy (M-PO-Pub).
